Responsibilities:

  • Directs all the casino operations and associated activities throughout the vessel by performing the duties described below either personally or through subordinate managers and supervisors.
  • Mentors, trains develops Casino team to strengthen their current performance, prepare for future advancement, and to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Meets with function managers and/or staff to review guest comments to implement revisions and improvements.
  • Reviews financial transactions and monitors budget.  Reviews for final approval for gifts, prizes, product replacements, supplies, purchases, etc.
  • Oversees all casino operations, presentations, activities and quality in all venues. Observes preparation to ensure quality standards are met. Oversees the care and maintenance of all equipment, props, supplies, etc.  Oversees all special events conducted onboard the vessel requiring the casino staff.
  • Maintains a high degree of "floor presence" to observe the casino games, slot machines, cash desk to minimize security and fraud issues.  Monitors the casino staff to ensure procedures and services are performed in accordance with Royal Caribbean International's Gold Anchor Standards.
  • Establish and develop relationships with junket tour operators.
  • Oversees the cash handling functions to ensure the counting and reconciliation processes are conducted according to established procedures.
  • Confers with food, beverage, shore excursions, gift shops, etc.  Provides input and feedback for the Cruise Compass newsletter.
  • Ensures that high roller casino guests are identified and enrolled into Club Royale.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Minimum two to five years progressive management experience as a Casino Manager with consistently high performance ratings in a large resort, cruise line, or hotel.
  • Experience in the Asian market is desired (Singapore, China, Macao, Japan, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, etc.)
  • Satisfactory completion of Gaming Board/Commission approved dealer school.
  • Ability to manage the financial aspects of a casino operation, including expense reduction through cost efficiencies and revenue growth through promotional and up-selling activities.
  • Ability to manage headcount within area as it relates to and supports the business needs of the vessel.
  • Ability to provide customer and personal service including needs assessment techniques, quality service standards, alternative delivery systems, and customer satisfaction evaluation techniques.
  • Working knowledge of computers, Internet access, and the ability to navigate within a variety of software packages such as Excel, Word, or related programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.
  • The ability to speak English clearly is required.
  • Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is highly preferred.
  • All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills.

Job Title:  Chief Electrician

Department:  Engine

Reports to:  Staff Chief Engineer

Costa Crociere looks for Chief Electricians for its brand Iberocruceros.

Job summary

He is responsible for the electrical  and electronic  control and monitoring systems regulating the electrical/mechanical system aboard our cruise ships. Manages a team of electricians and electronics personnel.  Operates, maintains, repairs and troubleshoots electrical/mechanical systems and controls regulating medium voltage variable frequency  drives and auxiliary machinery. Particularly, he will be in charge of:

Electrical open deck systems (davits el. System of lifeboats and tenders, mooring and anchor vinches, swimming pool el. System, sauna, solarium)

Electr. Ships’s common system  (CCTV, Elevators (Schindler, Mc Gregor), fire alarm system (Autronica), Theatre el. System, Galley el. System (Rational ovens, friers, pulpers, dish washing machines, laundry el. Washer, el. Drier, el. Ironer devices), Vingcard el. System, UPS el. System with belonging batteries, converter DC/AC generator el. System; lighting system

No main engine area el. System (Bow and stern thrusters, refrigeration and cold room, steering gear, switchboard system)

Main engine area el. System. Controls regulating medium voltage variable frequency  drives and auxiliary machinery  required to power, propel and navigate the vessel, including: motorized valves, telelevels,  engines, generator sets, connected controllers and switchgear, and navigation systems as well as the vessel facilities’ lighting, air, signal, communications, and video monitoring system.

He is familiar with low voltage system, switchboards and telephone sets.

He is required to follow company safety and pollution prevention policies and procedures and will request supervisory guidance when necessary.

He is familiar with the ISM Code and its requirements and with all duties under the Costa’s Safety Management System including Emergency Response Activities

Job profile

We are looking for applicants possessing the following qualifications: 

  1. fluency in English in both reading and writing;
  2. Certified as electrical / electronics Officer in charge of an engineering watch other than second engineer officer on ships powered by main propulsion power  of 750 kw propulsion power or more (unlimited) (as to regulation III/1 of STCW 95 convention);  always unlimited;
  3. A good knowledge of   marine and automation systems automation systems (Valmarine automation system is a plus; ABB automation for vessels is appreciated) as well as the working of main engines and auxiliary machinery, electric and support system such as  boilers, fuel centrifuges, air compressors, pumps, hydraulics,  hotel systems, plumbing, refrigeration, heating and air conditioning;
  4. Good communicational skills also with other nationalities;
  5. Computer literate in Amos D or Infoship, Word / Excel and lotus notes e-mail;
  6. Flexibility, an analytic mindset, enthusiasm, stress resistant;
  7. Aged between 30 and 40
  8. Two to three years of similar experience on international cruise  vessels or  ro/ro  ships;
  9. Previous experience as an electrician in shipyards or on board vessels is appreciated
  10. Valid SIRB and Passport
  11. Medically fit
  12. Courses: Basic safety training + Crowd and Crisis courses (code STCW V/3 par. 4,5,6,7,8), Proficiency in survival craft and rescue boat.

Position Summary

Manages the ships Human Resources division with emphasis on core functions such as: employee relations, training and development and conflict resolution.

Assist the Crew Purser’s office with crew sign on and off upon request.

Provides assistance and support to department heads when dealing with HR issues.

Assesses current and future training and development needs for the shipboard team. Delivers a variety of professional quality orientation, training and development programs while evaluating the effectiveness of training conducted by managers and supervisors.

The HR Manager is obliged to inform shore side management of matters where there is a perceived conflict with shipboard management or between crewmembers.

Responsibility

  • Compiles letter of references as wished by crewmember
  • Contact point for whichever crew issues arise with an “open door policy”; persons of trust for all crew members and officers; conflict/grievance mediation and resolution
  • Partner’s with Ships management to foster an open and non-discriminatory environment that is harassment free
  • Work closely with department heads to ensure consistency and fairness through their management of policies, processes, transfers, promotions, performance, progressive discipline, safety, security and environmental, etc., of all ships employees. Provides coaching guidance and continuous feedback to the ships management on same
  • Monitors and assesses Crew morale, provides feedback to management and develops strategies to enhance overall employee satisfaction
  • Attends all Master’s hearings and acts as an objective advisor of this forum with the crewmembers interest in mind. Ensures copy if all documentation is submitted to sea chefs Cruises Ltd. in Cyprus for filing and record keeping purposes
  • Participates and ensure that all investigations, including sexual harassment, assault and crime are carried out consistently and fairly and that all relevant documentation to support allegations in these investigations are obtained and pertinent procedures are followed
  • Participates on department meetings of deck & engine crew
  • Weekly one to one jour fix with the captain
  • Takes part and engages shipboard Crew Welfare Committee meetings. Co-manages distribution of all pertinent information for all employee benefits, compensation and HR policies including, but not limited to: medical coverage, cruising privileges, vacation, sick leave, nutrition (Crew mess), life on board, uniforms, cultural events, sign-on/sign-off processes, privilege charts, leave of absence (Compassionate leave), retirement, recognition service awards program and other company/morale building programs
  • Coordinates with shipboard and shore side leadership in the development distribution and execution of the ship’s training schedule. As needed, customizes training curriculum and methods to improve effectiveness
  • Conducts and organizes train-the-trainer sessions with external trainers, shipboard managers and supervisors in an effort to ensure the effective transfer of job-specific knowledge and skill to crew members, and to assist managers and supervisors in maintaining operational standards
  • Develops, executes and delivers the New Hire Orientation program for all new shipboard crewmembers, following the company guidelines
  • Develops, executes and delivers specialized trainings as; multicultural life on board, ethical guidelines etc.
  • Monitors employee training records and communicates training requirements to department heads. Assesses trainees to measure their learning progress and to provide feedback on the effectiveness of training program design and execution. Conducts follow [up end reinforcement with management for all training activities to ensure performance consistency and skill transfer in an effort to maximize business and result for TUI Cruises
  • Attends meeting, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required
  • All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with: USPG / HACCP, ISM & ISO, SQM and TUI Cruises service standards, safety policies and environmental regulations

Qualification / Job experience

  • Good knowledge of the hotel department onboard cruise vessels in general as well as very good knowledge of administration matters
  • Job experience or Training in Human Resources department
  • Ships experience necessary
  • Business fluent in written + spoken German and English; another language would be welcome.
  • Very good IT knowledge, especially in MS Office
  • Very good educational background

We hire Junior Photographers and we TRAIN you to become Business Managers. The experience gained while working with IMAGE will provide you with enough knowledge, experience, and savings, to open your own business or studio once you have committed to working for IMAGE.

Successful candidates will be flown to Miami for a full week of training which is provided by IMAGE at no expense to the staff.

All IMAGE staff must:

  • Have 2 or more years of photography experience
  • Live and work onboard a cruise ship for 6-8 months
  • Pass a full medical exam
  • Meet the requirements of our pre-employment testing and interviewing
  • Purchase a personal Nikon SLR camera body at cost from IMAGE once onboard
  • No visible tattoos
  • To work on a Cruise ship you have to over 21 years of age.

Cruise Ship Jobs Salon Hairdresser for 6* luxury ship

Job Description:

Working as part of a small team, the hairdresser onboard holds a vital role, in ensuring that the guest feels pampered whilst in the salon.

Whether it is for a new colour, trim or special ‘do’ for a formal night to match their gown, the hairdresser must ensure the guest leaves feeling amazing.

In return for all your hard work, you will receive a basic salary plus good commission on all products, cuts etc as well as tips.  You will also be provided with your flight to the ship, and all uniforms, meals and accommodation for the length of your contract.

When you are not working, the crew bar is a good place to hang out, as well as trips to Bora Bora, Tahiti and Moorea for either sun bathing, shopping or diving to see the lemon sharks, dolphins and other amazing wild life.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to have at least 3 years cutting experience, as well as the necessary qualifications, and references.

Culinary Trainee onboard a 6* Cruise Ship

Job Description:

We are offering a 6 month traineeship, exclusively in the Galley section of a 6* Cruise ship.

The trainee will be exposed to all aspects of the Galley department, involved in producing the highest quality dishes in line with all outlets onboard.

The program will run for 6 months, with the Trainee rotating on a monthly basis around various stations and outlets, to gain the maximum exposure onboard.

Candidates will require a culinary diploma from a recognised school as well as some experience in the industry in high volume and good qulity establishments.

The salary for the placement will be discussed at time of interview.

Staff Engineer

Job Description:

He is in all aspects, the representative of the Chief Engineer.

He must be qualified and ready to relieve the Chief Engineer at any time, if necessary.

He is the "Senior" officer responsible to the Chief Engineer for the efficiency and maintenance of all ship’s machinery, systems and equipment.

He will assist the Safety Officer with particular regard to safety standards in the engine rooms.

He ensures that spares and consumables inventories are updated.

He co-operate with the Chief Engineer for planning of maintenance and repair works within and outside the engine room.

He is responsible for prevention of accidents and the safety of the machinery department personnel. To this end he closely follows the instructions and the company’s procedures; for this he is appointed as responsible for Accident Prevention within the machinery department. He is the Officer responsible for the management of work permits within the engine room while work permits necessary for work to be carried out outside the engine room under the responsibility of the External Engineer (Hotel Engineer).

He collaborates with the Safety Officer for maintenance of the efficiency of all the safety systems (rescue, fire-fighting etc.) and of all the safety equipment within the engine room.

He arranges in conjunction with the Safety Officer the general and partial emergency drills, in particular those referred to fire fighting.

He puts into effect the instructions of the Chief Engineer, he trains and directs the machinery department personnel, Officers included, and looks after his department’s archive and keeps it updated.

He prepares monthly reports to be handed to the Chief Engineer.

He prepares handover reports at disembarkation.

Profile:

Certificate of Competency: IMO III/2 (First officer or more – no limitation for other than ro-ro vessels)

Basic safety training + PSCRB + Crowd and crisis courses (V.3 par. 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 – 8)

Age: 35 – 55

Previous Experience: on cruise vessels as a  chief engineer or as a staff engineer

Good leadership, senior experience on vessels.

Rotation:  4 months on / 2 months off

Good benefits on board.

Cruise Jobs on Cruise Ships

Cruise Jobs can be a attractive option for many to travel and see the world, and get paid for it.
Cruise Lines always need people to employ with different skills to keep there floating hotels afloat.
The daily operation of keeping all the ships running smoothly with crew vacations, crew coming back onboard.
The jobs are all like the ones you would find in large hotels. Working on cruise jobs are for the more adventurous,
who are not scared to try new things, not for the fainthearted. Loads of fun for individuals who like meeting new people and to please others.

Meals whilst on board, accommodation (shared most of the time-in bunk beds), return travel to home and other services that can save you money. You sign up for a period of time, a contract. The cruise ship is compact like a city with all types of services, people are needed with various skills. You find lots of jobs, such as hairdressers, massage therapist, beauticians (who all fall under steiner) waiters, musicians, dance, technicians, therapists, disc jockeys, lifeguards, casino cashiers, casino dealers, slot technicians. The highly skilled, like the captain and other management personnel are well paid well.

If you are prone to sea sickness, avoid taking a job on a cruise line, that the sea can be rough at times, especially during hurricane season. The seasick armbands work though. A lot of people do not adjust to the small cabins, they have to spend 6 months or more in it, it can become claustrophobic. Your physical health is important especially in jobs that can be very demanding, endurance being of utmost importance. Wages vary from one cruise line to another.

The ships are constantly getting bigger and better so there is a constant need for people to work onboard. It would be wise to weigh up the pros and cons, it is a great way to travel, make money, meet people from all walks of life and countries. If you really want to work on cruise ships then it would be wise to decide what job you would like to do, ie. casino dealer, casino closes whilst in port so therefore you would have a lot of free time, you still have to get your sleep in. The beauty salon, long hours, you might get an hour ashore now and again. It is wise to do your research on which job to apply for. In several jobs you need special skills, for example in the entertainment dept., beauty salon and youth staff.

If you don't have any experience you can still get jobs on boards cruise lines, they will train you, but be careful you don't get dumped into a dishwasher position or something similar, unless you can work yourself up to a better position.

Here are some jobs to apply for if you have no skills:
-Cruise Staff - you need general people skill
-Casino Cashier - customer service skills & cash handling experience, ie. bank teller
-Social Hostess - public speaking & people skills
-Gift Shop Associate - some retail or customer service experience
-Shore Excursion Staff - organizational, communication skills, knowledge of places
-Bar Waiting Staff - full training provided
-Receptionist - organizational & admin skills
-Internet Manager - some internet experience
-Photographer - full training provided but you must show a genuine interest in photography.
-Cocktail Server - full training provided
-Tour Guide - communication, people skills, knowledge of place or travelled
-Videographer - full training provided
-Guest Speaker - speaking skills with the ability to talk on a specific subject for an hour.
Some of the jobs available on board cruise ships, most of the jobs, require a high standard of customer service skills. If you have that under your belt you can use it to get in the cruise line industry.

You can always start in one position just to get the experience and then ask to do job training in the position that interests you at a later stage.

So you can see there are so many positions available if your are interested in following that course and seeing the world and getting paid for it.

If you have any certificates, whether CPR or life raft training, etc it is always handy to have.
